OUR FRIEND WHEAT

Wow, what a week! First of all last monday's Invisible City was a great joy. Nice dirty little breaks, milky-white Neu! grooves & scintillating conversations. I even learned how to contact mike a musical saw. I guess you never know when that skill will come in handy!

Last night we went to see Aidan Baker play at the ongoing Ambient Ping series currently held at the Drake Hotel. Aidan played a wonderful dream-set and even covered a Swans song from Soundtracks For The Blind. The atmosphere was great and reminded us of some of our favorite venues in Tokyo. I even felt a little Keiji Haino vibe in Aidan's set. Natsukashi!

Also later this week I'm stoked about the Singing Saw Orchestra's cover of Faust/Tony Conrad's Outside The Dream Syndicate which they'll play at the Tranzac Club this thursday. I hope they break the half hour mark! Another greatly anticipated show is the MV&EE show this saturday at the Music Gallery. With Jon-Rae & Eric Chenaux also on the bill it promises to be one of the best shows so far this year.

GET UP TO GET DOWN
Next week is gearing up to be the biggest night yet for Invisible City. We are celebrating DAN'S BIRTHDAY & filling our crates with our grooviest sure-fire ass-shakin' records. In addition to this dance conflagration we are proud to present the TENDER YEARS & FRIENDS otherwise known as Ian & Simone (Jon Rae & the River/Singing Saw Orchestra/L.S.Double D). They'll break your heart with country ballads about bad sex & migrant workers in Southern Ontario.

Come celebrate with us, we are the glue!

RULE OF THUMB

Hot pee in a snowbank! Monday was yellow sizzle and smoke. As usual the sounds kissed the images and Jean-Jacques Beiniex' s Diva held us captivated while Eric Dolphy & Mystikal flexed their superlungs. And Donovan, oooh Donovan. I love my pants. I love my shirt. We all love transcendental meditation!

Next monday our ears will be tickled by special guest DJ James. Also we'll have another love-set from Naomi who promises more scintillating Iroke Kayokyoko & samurai dance moves from Yamasuki.

Special thanks to James from Culturatti http://culturatti.com/ for a great review of our night!

We'll also be screening more celluloid gems including Matsumoto Toshio shorts & Ira Cohen's Invasion of the Thunderbolt Pagoda.

Come join us as we deceive midnight!

THE WINTER, IT'S COLD, IT'S COLD

Not to mention the heart-warming voices of Wendy & Bonnie, our favorite audio-tonic to fight off the cold Toronto winter! We will also be screening Chris Marker's 'San Soleil' and Wim Wenders' 'Tokyo Ga' to help stretch your imaginations all the way to the rising sun in the East.
